The sarcastic "middle child", who has been sometimes described as 'artsy fartsy' by few, has
been interested in art from the young age of 8 when he first started copying Rusty logos and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle heads
in class. From a young age he entertained his peers with humorous cartoons, comics, and depictions of teachers, which resulted
in an in-school suspension. Freehand drawing was his specialty until he finally decided to try his hand at painting in 2005.
His early paintings showed potential, if he had been a 3 year old. His most notable crossover in the art world was established
in late 2003 when he won the bidding war for an AE-1 Canon 35mm camera at the remarkable price of $70. Since that day he has
taught himself how to use it through the ever meticulous practice of trial and error.
Since then he has been capturing events around him in his hometown of San Diego, Ca. He has also traveled and captured moments
in Mexico (Tijuana, Guadalajara, Mexico City) and Italy (Venice, Treviso, Mogliano Veneto). Over the last few years Carlos
Mendez has started on the trek to reaching his potential. When asked to describe Carlos Mendez in one word, Oprah quickly
replied with, "Who?" I am always looking to show my work around town, whether it's in a coffee
shop, salon, restaurant, or a local art show. Please feel free to contact me about my art.

2009 Carlos Mendez won a photography contest put on by the clothing company GrnAppleTree. His photo titled
"Canal" will be featured on a t-shirt later this year.
